Congratulations, Kelly, for completing your on-hiatus project!
More great news from our 2014/15 resident! Kelly Malec-Kosak‘s on-hiatus project was to restructure and develop a new contemporary craft major curriculum as a chair of a college fine art department. One year later, it’s now officially launched, accepting students for the fall 2017! We were impressed that while at RFAOH, she was rather open about her job and where she worked at etc, sort of publicly admitting that she had a great job many may want, but her “artist time” was all taken up by helping “other artists” — she represented many art educators we have spoken with, who may identify and sympathize with her struggle — Kelly just went a step further and decided to consider her work-work as an on-hiatus project and devoted herself to it. We admired her honest and brave approach to her challenge — go check out the programme and herself smiling on their site — she’s also told us that she’s started “making” again!!
